Chao Feng (b. 2000), born in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, graduated from the Affiliated High School of China Academy of Art in 2019 and received his BA in Contemporary Painting from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2023. He is currently pursuing an MA in Painting at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London, and works between London and Hangzhou.

Chao Feng’s practice revolves around the construction of an Organic Hyper-Narrative Machine. He keenly captures high-visibility images from diverse fields, carefully appropriates and reorganizes them into micro-events, and ultimately grafts these elements onto unique narrative frameworks to generate a series of organic narratives. In his conceptual framework, most creators maintain a hierarchical "master-servant" relationship with images, whereas Chao positions himself as a Creator-Organism in dialogue with his works. The stories he creates do not belong to him alone; they are liberated organic entities whose narratives and identities depend on the observer’s visual experience. Specialized narrative structures hyper-amplify narrativity, even to the point of dissolving the meaning of content itself. Within this visual logic, storytelling undergoes radical transformation.Chao seeks to lead images beyond the discipline of narrative desire and structure, exploring and constructing an empire of hyper-narrative machines.
